DONATE TO CHANGE
A PERSON’S LIFE

We believe an Assistance Dog can change the life of a person living with disabilities. As a national nonprofit organization, Paws With A Cause relies upon the generosity of donors who support the work we do. Even though the cost to train and place a PAWS Assistance Dog is $30,000, our clients pay no fee to apply for or receive their Assistance Dog. Those costs are underwritten by generous donors like you.

PAWS to Celebrate™ (Thursday, November 19, 2015)

Our fourth annual awards dinner will be held on November 19, at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. We are delighted to be honoring long-time friends of PAWS, Rick Albin and Dee Morrison, with the 2015 Candye Sapp Tribute Award for their commitment to PAWS and community philanthropy.  For information, or to get involved with planning for our 2015 event, please contact Jen at jboan@pawswithacause.org.

You can view the video of our 2014 Candye Sapp Tribute Award recipient, Jim Hesseman, below.

PAWS to Read® (Anytime/School Year Program)

PAWS to Read (PTR) is a read-a-thon PAWS developed with the help of educators intended to motivate children to read, while learning empathy by "helping others" and raising funds for PAWS. Designed for school-agers from kindergarten to eighth grade, the program is typically hosted through schools, during the education year, but is easily adaptable for other ages and groups. Participants collect pledges based on the number of pages or books they read during the read-a-thon period. For more information on hosting a PTR event for your school or group, please contact Mary at mblain@pawswithacause.org.

Stocks and Securities

Appreciated securities are perhaps the most cost-effective assets to use in making a gift. When you transfer ownership of long-term holdings to Paws With A Cause, you receive a charitable deduction for their full market value and you incur no capital gains tax (subject to IRS deduction limits).

Since a donor’s information accompanying electronic stock transfers is not always complete, please alert us in advance that you plan to give stock, including the stock’s name and number of shares.

For questions or to transfer stocks or securities, contact Teri Crosby: 800-253-7297, tcrosby@pawswithacause.org

Planned Giving

You can help future PAWS clients enhance their independence and quality of life by making a bequest in your will or estate plan. Please consider these ways to remember PAWS in your will or estate plan:

  • Charitable Bequest: A gift in your will is the simplest way to remember PAWS in your estate plan. There is no lifetime cost to you, and your estate may qualify for a charitable deduction.
  • Life Insurance: A life insurance policy you no longer need makes an excellent gift to PAWS. You may either designate PAWS as a partial beneficiary or grant us ownership of the policy.
  • Retirement and Pension Plans: Paws With A Cause can be named the beneficiary (or partial beneficiary) of your IRA, other retirement plan or pension plan. You have the ability to name PAWS as a recipient of funds from these plans after providing for your loved ones.
  • Life Income Gifts: There are a variety of charitable trusts that pay lifetime income to you alone or to you and a loved one. At your passing, what remains can be designated as a gift to PAWS.

If you have included PAWS in your will or estate plan, please let us know. We’d like to thank you and acknowledge your support of PAWS.

For more information about planned giving, please visit our special planned giving site or contact Joe Dulin: 800-253-7297, jdulin@pawswithacause.org

In-Kind Gifts

Paws With A Cause supports its mission and programs not only through cash contributions but by the generosity of “in-kind” donations from individuals, corporations, schools and community groups. In-kind gifts allow us to focus our budget dollars on the most critical, day to day needs of our organization. Please review PAWS’ wish list to learn about our current needs.

If you have questions about in-kind donations, please call: 800-253-7297
