The guidelines for naming a PAWS Puppy are simple. We recommend names that are fairly easy to say; most two-syllable names are acceptable. Common human names, inappropriate or offensive names and names ending with sounds similar to the word “no” (Joe, Bingo, etc.) are not permitted. You can select a name yourself or choose one from our approved name list.
Please note: PAWS cannot guarantee that your specially named puppy will be placed as an Assistance Dog. Dogs may join our elite Breeding Stock; others enter into alternate “working” careers or find homes with adoptive families. Regardless of outcome, only one PAWS Puppy will be named per request. Since each litter is assigned names according to a letter of the alphabet or theme, this may cause a delay in the naming of your puppy.
